Happy 2019! I am so excited that my first post is here this very month. Sometime back, I resolved to keep blogging religiously and I demonstrated that resolve by regularly posting in the months of September and October. I am excited to be back to blogging after a gap of two months on account of a few life events. Things have settled and its time to set out some new fashion goals. It’s the time of the year when fashionistas world over are predicting what trends could rule the new year and frankly speaking I have a few thoughts of my own. 2019 is going to be about frills, layers and fanciful disposition.
Ruffles and frills have dominated the scene like no other trend in the past year. My connection to frills however goes straight back childhood where I would never ditch a frilly frock for a birthday party. It came in lace, satin and chiffon like a fairytale. So the fact that it’s a strong trend only highlights that the designers are probably making everyone embrace their girly side and that no one is really experimenting with the unknown. What is great is to see how today’s trends are influenced by the past.
This post however could only be a precursor to all that may follow from my end about this trend as this Urban Outfitters dress is an ultimate minimalistic take on this trend with the dress finished with a single frilly tier. This dress has too many trending elements such as mesh, frills and oversize in one single punch. The frill and the mesh together tell a story of how flirty meets bold making the dress perfect for a sundowner kinda vibe. Just love this peach dress with neon patches and I can’t wait to flaunt it. Despite the sheen of the material, it has more of a daytime feel. So flowy and flouncy, I am totally drowning in the dress but loving it. The beauty of an oversize dress that is flowy lies in being comfy and chic at the same time.
I love the Mumbai weather in January. Not so hot not so cold. Perfect for layering. Light layering may prove to be a season appropriate. A bomber jacket too is an answer to a lot of questions on layering and is a wardrobe must have. I am going with this cute floral bomber jacket from Promod. A bomber jacket happens to be a timeless piece of layer in every way. You could wear it practically with anything. This jacket somehow just looked right with the dress. Like nothing I tried before seemed to be doing any justice to this dress.
For this look, I have tossed my standard sneaker or boots as footwear and have opted for caged sandals with heels. Its a good change as I have been all about boots and sneakers and so many of my pointy heels, stilettos and the like are simply hiding inside the shoe closet waiting their turn. I am finishing the look with minimum accessories for maximum impact.
I am wearing-
Urban Outfitters dress and neckpiece; Promod bomber jacket; Zara shorts; H&M bralette; Nine West sandals; Veromoda bag; Accessorize & Ettika bracelets
