Stripe In Your Number Maxi Skirt

June 1, 2019

There is no respite from heat and its only cranking up. Keeping my wardrobe up to date with the summer essentials is my need of the hour and has been a top priority. Not only that, you gotta be holiday ready! As I strive to post regularly, migrating from my comfort zone is something I am trying to work on. Just had to toss away those cute little dresses and try something more challenging. What better way to start than to create a wardrobe for a possible vacation? I just thought to myself, if I had to go on a vacation right about now, what would my wardrobe be like? My face lit up and I went about creating a few holiday looks which will be posted here starting this one.

I barely leave the city and have no one else besides myself to blame for that. But suddenly it seems that the rest of the world takes travelling a lot seriously than I could have ever imagined. “When in doubt, travel”. Whoever said that was very wise. My bestie Srabonee @departureready would vouch for that. She says its life changing and her resolve to accomplish her travel goals is so inspiring. Every time I see her after a holiday she is stronger, more sorted, even prettier and is a far better version of herself. I bet she is quietly plotting to get me there too! Coz for me, it’s always been “When in doubt, shop”. Not niceL. I want to change that and if it will be clothing that should lead that change, so be it. Gotta stop spending endlessly on clothes and gotta book that ticket!

Holidays are a serious affair now and so is holiday dressing. It’s my belief that summer trends very often lean towards stripes and vertical stripes have fast become a vacation staple. 2018 saw a fair share of the trend. This beautiful print technique feels very fresh and bold on a skirt or a dress. The best part about vertical stripes is that it naturally adds height and can make one look slimmer. I am wearing a Nasty Gal ‘Stripe in Your Number’ maxi skirt which is high-waisted and also features a high low hemline with a front slit ensuring ease of movement that comes as a side dish with the sexiness of the slit. The skirt is pretty long so I added my Free People strappy wedges as I did not want to shorten it. My ideal choice to take care of the length would have been a pair of platform sneakers or espadrilles. But I am honestly missing a good pair of them and its high up on my shopping list.

Besides the black suede ‘Road Wedge’, I have opted for a distressed yellow tote from Free People as well with woven straps and fringe accents in a very subtle yellow to keep the brightness of the outfit in check. I accessorized the look with a wraparound plastic red bracelet having a metal inset and double ring gold earrings to go with it. I feel I must thin down more for this skirt coz I have opted for a crop top and I am not too sure if this was the right choice for my body type in its current shape. I was just dying to put up this look and didn’t want to waste any time finding the right top, a classic problem as far as a tricky skirt such as this is concerned. But vacation or otherwise, you need a skirt like this in the summer. Take my word for it! Finally, that’s what I call wind in my hair and the sand on my feet.

I am wearing –

Nasty Gal skirt; Zara crop top; Free People wedges and tote; Mango bracelet; American Eagle Outfitters earrings
